Minister: Situation on consumer goods market improves

MOSCOW, Jul 5 (PRIME) -- The situation on the consumer goods market is better, although it is too early to say that it has stabilized, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on Tuesday.

"The situation on the consumer goods market has improved indeed. Over the last week of June, revenue registered on the cash equipment returned to the February levels for the first time and even exceeded them slightly. But we cannot say that stabilization has taken place," Reshetnikov said.

The official said that the June dynamics was mainly caused by tourism.

Weak demand remains the main risk for economic recovery, Reshetnikov said, adding that deflation and a weak lending growth signal problems with demand. Deposits are growing, which means that people are reluctant to spend money on consumption.
